Sanama vs. Talenore friendly (03/07)
*Played 3rd July*
Sanama 2-3 Talenore
2' - M. Sonetti
34' - V. Cristaldo
45' - M. Sonetti
70' - P. Gjanocca
73' - P. Xvarts
Talenore scraped past Sanama by the skin of their teeth in an enthralling encounter to round off their World Cup preparations. An instant strike from Mariolino Sonetti put the Vulture Cup runners-up ahead with the pacy striker running clear to finish a one-on-one but Talenore responded later in the half through Vernon Cristaldo's direct free-kick which found its way past Hammonds via the left-hand post. Sanama, however, hadn't read the script and took the lead once again right before the interval; another Sonetti finish, this one after a cushioned touch to bring down an Andretti delivery, was pushed home from close range with the last kick of the half.
Talenore found their momentum after the break, but needed to wait until the final twenty minutes to draw level, only for their first lead of the match to follow minutes later. Petro Gjanocca's header from a corner left the 'keeper standing before Peder Xvarts combined with Kali Kalani to bypass some panicked defending to finish with emphasis into the top-right corner from the angle. As in the first half, Sanama created a very late chance to score once again, but an instinctive Taki Tolâso save flicked the ball just over the bar from a powerful Koke Shuma volley. With just over a week to go before the start of the World Cup, where they will contest the opening match, Talenore's preparations can now only continue on the training ground.
