Senya vs. Mercury friendly (05/07)
*Played 5th July*
Senya 2-1 Mercury
7' - S. Yatesby
56' - K. Volinsk
76' - K. Volinsk
Senya came from behind in Birgeshir to beat Mercury in both sides' final warm-up match. The Mercurians took an early lead through Simon Yatesby after the midfielder had joined a move upfield and exploited a gap in behind Aleks Mëa to score past the 'keeper, but Senya were the more creative side through the majority of the half. Despite this, the "Green Army" were unable to make any chances count until after half time, when Kiket Volinsk proved his worth of inclusion in their World Cup final 23. With 2017 hero Alesandrœ Danetskë on somewhat of a quiet run, Volinsk's initiative put him in the right place to shin home a dangerous corner from close range twenty minutes prior to turning Chris Deacon expertly with a first touch to set himself through to finish through Foster's legs. Mercury were dangerous nevertheless, but were well matched by a Senyan defence which saw out the win in what many are predicting a precursor to the final on August 18th in the same stadium.
