2020 Confederational Championships host bidding
2020 Confederational Championships host bidding
So it's high time to open up the application process for hosting next year's confederational tournaments! Each region's finals will take centre stage next summer!
The qualifiers will be held in their usual period of January-June, with the Confederations Cup being played over the same period in which the holders and hosts of each regional championships will compete in place of qualifying, having received automatic berths in their respective finals. Therefore, not only will the successful hosts get to stage their own tournament, their team will also have a chance at official silverware before it's even started!
While all four tournament sizes and berths have yet to be finalised - with the end-of-year rankings and membership numbers to dictate that - the FMF would like to suggest that any interested nations tailor their bids for the possibility of hosting a tournament involving eight teams; which is likely to be the largest field each could see. Any adjustments needed to cater for a smaller tournament shall be made once the hosts have been announced and qualification organised. We aspire to have all tournaments run as 8-team events this year, requiring at least four stadia to be named.
This bidding process shall remain open for five weeks and any bids received after November 8th will be disregarded. Successful hosts will then be announced shortly afterwards, following an FMF Executive vote, before the draws for each confederation's qualifying rounds are made in the days after. Qualification will begin on the last Wednesday of January and will take place over the same period of time as the familiar World Cup rounds.
As per a decision of the FMF council, no joint bids will be permitted for this competition, due to the format of the qualifiers and the Confederations Cup. Additionally, the Kingdom of Coria, North Antarctica, Mercury and Shireroth will be barred from hosting having held the last editions of the confederation championships.
Could any prospective hosts please complete the form below with as much relevant information as possible and, at your discretion, any factors which make your bid more suitable than any others!

Nation Name: Florian Republic
Association: AEFA
Number of Stadiums: 5
1.Sports City, 114,786 (Northcliff) Opening game and final
2.Steinfield, 54,074 (Longsight) Three group games and a semi final
3.Thunder Park, 74,000 (Oldhaven) Three group Games, semi-final and third place playoff

5. Meadowedge Stadium, 45,500 (Meadowedge) Three group games
Leader: Morgan Sharp
Government: Unitary semi-presidential republic
Number of Leagues: Four
Number of Teams in Premier Division:12
Why do you think you deserve to host the competition?: A sports-mad country. The Florian Republic boasts four major sporting leagues on Micras and the leagues are unofficially known as the 'Big-Four' due to their popularity. These include the Intercontinental Hockey League (ice hockey), Florian Basketball Association (Basketball), Super League (rugby league) and Super League Football (football). The Florian Republic has hosted major events in the past such as the 2019 MHL World Championships, FMRL Four Nations (now Six Nations) and FMRL World Club Championships. Every match in the Florian Republic would be garuenteed to sell regardless of the team playing and the sports facilities and other infrastructure are second to none. The Florian Republic is ready to host major sporting events and a first football tournament held in the country will create a great legacy in the country afterwards.

Why do you think you deserve to host the competition?:
By 2020, it will have been seven years since Zandarijn's greatest footballing achievement; hosting the FMF World Cup alongside Hammish Monovia. That year saw the Zandts' most successful World Cup as they made the knock-out rounds for the first, and so far only, time. After a number of years in the international wilderness, Zandarijn are once again performing well, having qualified for their first World Cup in five years in Birgeshir this summer, and support for the team is at a notable high with many fans hoping to see their heroes challenge for the CiboTap title next year; eleven years on from their shock shoot-out victory over Alexandria in 2009's final. Zandarijn can boast five quality stadiums in its bid, all of which have played host to World Cup matches and regularly see CTFA Champions' League and Cup action every season as Zandt League clubs battle with the best from Birgeshir and Natopia.
Zandarijn already has the locations, the know-how and the passionate fans; all it needs now is some visitors!

Etourney wants to change that by hosting a major tournament and showcasing itself to the world and show that it is culturally different to the mainland. Please do not participate in mega stadiums any more,30.000-50.000 is enough for the tournament.Birgeshir held a world cup, but the stadiums weren't that big.

Re: 2020 Confederational Championships host bidding
Birgeshir hosted after Vyktory dropped-out though, and Vyktory's bid won in the first place because it had larger stadiums
That said, the sizes of the stadiums aren't too much of a deciding factor; developing your nation's football is much more important. Sanpantul's bid was successful because the nation has already established its own domestic league system, and organising tournaments like the Noka Cup are a good indicator of suitability to host events. If Phinbella can show similar initiative to that in the future, its chances of hosting will definitely increase for the next time!

Re: 2020 Confederational Championships host bidding
Copa Apollonia to be expanded
Following discussions, the AEFA has announced that the 2020 Copa Apollonia finals competition will be contested by twelve national teams; an increase from the originally-scheduled eight, as used in the previous four editions.
Due to the confederation's large membership of late, and the strength of ranking of many of its national teams, the competition will now see ten teams advance from the qualifying stages to join the hosts and holders Senya in the finals in Lamantia next summer. The finals format will be amended to fit the twelve teams into four groups of three, with an additional quarter-final stage added after the groups.
As a result, Senya, originally allocated to Group B in the eight-team format, will instead now be automatically drawn into Group D.
