2011 FMF World Cup - OFFICIAL THREAD
Re: 2011 FMF World Cup - OFFICIAL THREAD
Antica v Cräiteland
Nova England will be hoping that the Anticans will be able to do them a favour by seeing off current World Cup holders Cräiteland as we now focus on Group C's late kick off at the Antya Stadion in Apollo. Whilst Nova England narrowly lost to a dominant Tellian side, the Craits and current champions are currently second in the group and will look to close this one off, despite struggling to shut off Nova England in their opening game of the campaign.
Antica will make 2 changes with Bob Ends dropping to the bench, opting for Malmentrop Zeteb to partner Curtis O'Toole up front. The other change is in goal following their 2-0 loss to Tellia. Nigel Newman comes in place of Winfred Brakeman, who is dropped to the bench. Elsewhere it seems that there are no changes, with Antica looking to continue playing the 4-4-2, although with the way they line up now, we expect a more direct Antica who will play slightly deeper and look to wing play and long balls to feed O'Toole and Zeteb right at the spearhead of attack.
The Craits will make no changes, despite their less than impressive performance in the opening game. Whilst Tellia are showing some form, the Craitish will need to respond if they want to progress in this group. Antica will fancy their chances after seeing how close Nova England got to upsetting the champions in the first game, and will look to replicate that throughout the match to gain an advantage. The 3-5-2 system may prove risky here; with the likes of Manta Pellegrino and Markko Edmildón depended on to defend when needed as well as attacking down the wings.
With the result going Tellia's way, it's a case or never for Antica. They will need at least a draw to remain in contention of knockout qualification, whilst a win for Cräiteland would close the group off with themselves and the Tellians advancing to the next round. It's a tough task for Antica, but it's one they will definitely have some belief they can win judging by form. Once again, the concern here for the Anticans is fatigue and with their close season ending, preparations and opening game, the question remains whether they would have enough steam to advance and play consistently should they go through. The question for Cräiteland though is form - can they improve or have they reached their peak?
Predicted Lineups
Antica (4-4-2): 1 N Newman (GK), 2 D Smith, 3 M Monaco, 4 R Abrahmov (CAPT), 5 H Dausch, 6 A Kern, 7 A Blarg, 17 M Nick, 19 M College, 20 M Zeteb, 11 C O'Toole
Cräiteland (3-5-2): 1 J Vorgensen (GK), 2 J A Larsen, 6 P Demhivo, 3 A Proten, 7 Manta P (CAPT), 5 H Herä, 13 Y Senovichi, 8 T Vorgensen, 11 M Edmildón, 10 F Gaärsen, 21 T Hjansen.

Apparently when a team switches to a defensive approach, it's not really a defensive approach.

Interland v Hamland
Preview
Following their record 7-2 victory against the Babkhans, Interland will hope that the result wasn't just a one off as they look to cause another potential upset against last year's hosts and finalists Hamland. The Hammish failed to impress with an opening draw against the Batavians so they will look to this match to get their campaign underway.
Despite being goalless in the previous match, the Hammish have opted to continue with the same squad, with Benjamin Craig and Andrew Miller up front. Billy McVeigh once again starts on the left whilst Eric Heinhorn is on the right. There is still no place for Jonathan O'Hara as Ray Kartiksti, Eddie Winters and Peter MacKenzie form the back three in the 3-5-2 formation.
Unsurprisingly, Interland will continue with the 4-3-3 system, with Marian Wyzywan being looked upon to continue his empathic form from the previous games. Until the Craitish played yesterday, the 27 year old striker was leading the goalscoring charts; however he has now been overshadowed by Freddie Gaärsen. Zbigniew Kolarek will also need to watch out as having already been booked again Babkha, the midfielder is now one match away from suspension and will want to avoid a booking should he wish to play against his nation's final group game against Batavia.
Predicted Lineups
Interland (4-3-3): 1 J Kepp (GK) (CAPT), 2 L Ziebro, 4 H Diabel, 17 K Lukasz, 3 A Anders, 14 Z Kolarek, 5 O Lapacz, 12 T Mostowny, 9 J Golánski, 10 M Wyzywan, 18 M Orwolski.
Hamland (3-5-2): 1 R MacLeod (GK) (CAPT), 2 R Kartiksti, 15 E Winters, 6 P MacKenzie, 8 E Heinhorn, 16 I O'Hara, 10 J Scott, 5 E Martin, 23 B McVeigh, 11 B Craig, 21 A Miller.

*Also played yesterday*
Babkha 1-1 Batavia
A late own goal cost Batavia three very valuable points in a game they should have won comfortably to put them in pole position for progression, but now have to rely on a tough game against Interland to qualify.
Despite not taking the lead until after half time, Batavia showed their dominance throughout, hitting Rewzebh Thana's crossbar twice in ten minutes. Firstly, Jeroen van Veen's curling freekick from the edge of the box slammed against the underside of the woodwork before being cleared, and Jowi Bach's long-range blasted effort skimmed the top on its way for a goal kick.
Batavia's attacking prowess continued through the break, and the Benacians found themselves ahead with 25 minutes to play. Jowi Bach and Jeroen van Veen played a one-two around Babkhan captain Ferhad Alelhwerda, with the latter using his pace to encircle Thana before slotting into an empty net for what seemed to be an inevitable lead. Bach could have doubled Batavia's advantage a less than three minutes later, but his low-hit effort scuffled along the turf after squeezing through a crowd of players and nicked the outside of Thana's left-hand post on its way out. However, the game was not over, not by a long shot, and Babkha pushed forward in the last ten minutes. With only three remaining, Bhernegu Pearsafer won a corner, the Babkhans' first of the game, and swung it into the box. Keameshad Jewada met the ball with a header in the centre of the six-yard box, but Tom Meessen got down low to save it well. However, Meessen could only parry it and, unfortunately for him, it came off the back of Rien van Rethel, who was covering the post, and into the net.
Babkha are given the most unluckiest of lifelines and could still progress with an unlikely high-scoring win against Hamland, but this point means Batavia need a win against Interland to go through.

Group A - Final Games (GAME 3)
Shireroth v Toketi
As Group A hits Kildare, the question now remains on who will take the second place to progress through to the knockouts. Toketi, who are currently on 1 point after a draw with Taeland, will have to beat the hosts should they wish to progress. On the other hand Shireroth will only need a draw to progress, as they look to progress on home soil.
Despite a 1-0 loss and goalless draw, the Toketians will opt to play the same 3-2-2-3 formation with the same line-up as before, showing faith in the team unity. Although most of the show for their team has been stolen by goalkeeper Turk ronAjain (who potentially could be retiring from international duty after this match), the attention now turns towards captain Tom Kenstein and his fellow forwards Ichigo Trask and Liam ronHamuji. All three are under pressure as the former finalists have yet to actually score a goal in this campaign. With the manager calling up a very experienced side, it's looking like the gamble has failed to pay off and the side may already be heading for the plane home should they not get a result this game.
The hosts however will be boosted by the backing of the thousands of fans at Dutch's Field, as many fans fought over tickets to see their team appear in Blackrock Nua. And manager Paolo Ste-Laurent has also showed no intent of only playing for a draw with a full strength squad. Shireroth will be boosted by the return of Talsin Llwrran, who missed the match against Alexandria due to a slight knock. However, the former Imperial United midfielder has managed to recover just in time for the match. Elsewhere it remains unchanged at the back whilst Gary Smith has been called up to partner Kurt Lamberti and Adolf Mather up front, with Jalal Akwá dropping to the bench after 2 poor performances in the first few games of the campaign.
Predicted Lineups:
Shireroth (4-3-3): 20 A du Nigrad (GK), 2 M Castaraghi, 5 J Rhahédar, 4 N Santos Gomez, 3 Didinho (CAPT), 9 J Vidarsson, 6 R Kikksta, 7 T Llwrran, 10 G Smith, 8 K Lamberti, 16 A Mather.
Toketi (3-2-2-3): 1 T ronAjain (GK), 2 Y basKarän, 3 R tönTassa, 4 K jënHalain, 5 T Rask, 8 N Furben, 9 B Rrannâa, 13 M Aström, 7 I Trask, 10 T Kenstein (CAPT), 12 L ronHamuji.

Taeland v Alexandria
A few hours ahead but kicking off at the same time, the second Group A game bares nothing much to the fate of these one of these teams while the opposing team can still fight to progress. Taeland's chances may be slim, but a win here at the Antya Stadion in Apollo and a draw in Blackrock Nua could result in them progressive in the most unlikely circumstances ever; however facing a strong Alexandrian side who have already qualified may not have been the ideal opposition they wish to face in this situation.
The Alexandrians, who have already secured a qualification spot will look to make a total of 9 changes to their starting line up as they look to rest players for the next round and although they may be resting several of their mainstays in the team, they still look very strong despite their intentions of fielding a second string team. As the likes of Cesc Xavi, Tamer Modrem, Sébastien Focán and Florent Lassana-Traoré are rested, David Belle will lead the side out as Khalid Mohamed, Alexis Carrasco and Yannick Ancelin are called up; while Jean-Pierre D'Oliviera and Diego Pedro are the only survivors from the first two games.
Taeland, who have nothing to lose at all will look to play the same side that lost against Shireroth and drawn against Toketi. Looking to set out the strongest squad as possible, it seems that the Taes will stick to their 4-1-4-1 system with AC Zimia's Tim Turner looked upon to rescue their hopes. It is a huge ask for the side, who are facing the 2009 champions; however whilst it is still mathematically possible to progress, it seems the Tae team (a team who have always been looked as minnows) will not give up and fight until the end until it becomes a lost cause.
Predicted Lineups
Taeland (4-1-4-1): 1 M Troblisnk (GK), 4 G Galtrenki, 13 K Níyot (CAPT), 2 Y Graatak, 21 O Perensen, 5 U Frankasti, 7 P Kollingon, 15 Y Haartons, 10 B O'Boyle, 19 R Novo, 16 T Turner.

Group B - Final Games (GAME 3)
Natopia v Victoria
As Group B heads South, the attention now turns to Yardistan where the Natopians will look to be securing their progress in the World Cup. Whilst the Victorians fate was decided after their 2 successive losses earlier on in the group, it is here in Nova Nigrad where the Natopians will hope to seal their progression to the knockouts.
A win for Natopia will seal their qualification; however should they draw or lose then their fate will be decided in the other occurring group game in Brookshire Hamlet where Passas play Ashkenatza.
The Natopians revert to their original line-up in the opening game. Howard Fieser is demoted to the bench, while Michael Stanescu returns up front. There has also been a reverting change on the right wing as Ismail Cunmulaj replaces Elijah Karoly.
As for Victoria, the team remains unchanged, with the 4-4-2 formation. With their dismissal from the tournament already known after this match, the Victorians seem to be looking to keeping the squad to try and gain some team chemistry. Undoubtedly it has been a step in the ladder for the debutants, and this is just the beginning of their progression to building a successful team. With nothing to lose at all, the Victorians will remain high in spirits and we expect them to go out and still try to win the game.
Predicted Lineups:
Natopia (4-4-2): 23 G Concorde (GK), 17 G Tedeschi, 19 Leonardo D S, 5 R Azin, 2 J Benden, 8 I Cunmulaj, 12 R Luxury-Yacht (CAPT), 14 J Shin, 9 J Murphy-Lee, 6 A Pavle, 21 M Stanescu.

Passas v Ashkenatza
Whilst Natopia will looking to get something in their match, it may result to this game to decide who goes through. Passas will be hoping for an easy run and will hope that no surprises will spring, as they only need a draw to progress. Ashkenatza on the other hand must win, otherwise they will be out. Even if they lose, Passas may still have a chance of progressing if Victoria beats Natopia, depending on the goal differences.
Passas will look to continue into this match with the same match as last. There will be no changes following their 3-1 victory over Victoria. Once again, the side will most likely look towards captain Nick Verkslamp to lead the way, as well as Lukasz Dabrowski to continue his goalscoring record after scoring his first goal of the tournament in their last one. Once again, Sa Pazi starts on the right, ahead of Thomas Ellsworth and Alex Danelon, who also scored in the previous game has yet again been chosen ahead of Philipp Sherman, who was Vecchiacittà's big money buy earlier in the summer.
Ashkenatza however have shown that they are no real pushovers. The debutants convincingly beat Victoria in their opening game and despite losing to Natopia, Flavio Carrichiavi's side has shown the even if they're not winning, they will still play a very Tellian-esque attacking display. The entertaining football may come as a surprise to the Passaseans; however the former finalists should have enough experience to deal with the threat up front. Ashkenatza will look to Frenkel Bruno up front to deliver the goods, while Farvaelska youngster Dovid Tzipris will also prove a threat at set pieces. There has been one change to the starting line up with Raikoth's Tzvi Wasserman dropped in favour of Maurycy Darezewicz in the advanced attacking midfielder position.
Predicted Lineups
Passas (4-1-2-1-2): 1 M East (GK), 18 G Sinyakos, 2 O Hurtado, 6 N Davis, 3 S Bonny, 5 T Arans, 13 S Pazi, 10 D Đorđević, 8 N Verkslamp (CAPT), 9 Ł Dąbrowski, 22 A Danelon.

Group C - Final Games (GAME 3)
Cräiteland v Tellia
Mortis Mercatoria are used to staging big games as the PSL champions currently play their trade at Haunted Park; however this probably will beat it as the stadium is absolutely electric. Whilst the stadium is used to seeing black and blue stripes, the stadium has temporarily switched to Craitish white and the Rose & Green of Tellia. This surely has to be one of the biggest games we've seen in this year's Group Stages, and the travelling support are not keeping themselves quiet, with both of these sides being founding FMF members and have a long history domestically with both the Serie A and League 1s respectively.
And although both are through, Cräiteland are the ones that have the upper edge so far. A draw will be enough for them to win the group. Already knowing the potential possibility of facing Shireroth or Alexandria in the next round, both sides will probably want to avoid the other. The Craits have decided to take a more conservative approach and although they've rested several players, the team looks fairly strong and will still look competitive. Jon Anders Larsen is rested as Daniel Hjansen replaces him in the defence, whilst Hänä Zensen, Al Chentzansio-Herä and Zen Daviddlaw or come in as Hjan Herä, Toby Vorgensen and Tommy Hjansen are all rested.
Tellia, whose manager Angelo Perrotta has clearly stated prior to the tournament that they fear no opposition, will be hoping to prove the rest of Micras that the Craitish are not invincible; however with the majority of the team being rested, it may be a tough task ahead for the ambitious youngsters. After seeing Ashkenatza crash out, the Tellians will be the Ashkenatzis last hope of progressing as the team belongs to the Tellian territories east of the Republic. And despite progressing, it looks like the Tellians might have settled for 2nd and have resigned to defeat as they make 7 changes in total. Simone Di Maggio replaces CTFC's goalkeeper Roberto Flavienchini, whilst Pasquale di Montezemolo and Alessandro De Laurentiis are both rested as Marco Schiavvi and Vitantonio Chiellini come into the defence. Leonardo Bortolotti and Vincenzo Motta join the midfield as Frederico Diamo gets pushed further forward and will lead the side out, with Sezer Özker also being rested. Marko Zajc and Anthony Denoix-Moreau are also benched as Júlio Romána and prolific Craitish League 1 striker Piero Donetti start.
We expected this game to be one of the highlights in this group of death; however judging by the two sides that are being fielded, Cräiteland do look like they have the edge. Whilst Tellia have started resting the majority of their players already despite needing a win to finish first, the Craits still aim to be competitive. The last time the two sides have met was when in 2007 when Tellian predecessors Gaia were still in the frame, which resulted in a 0-0 draw. However this time on neutral territory, the story could be slightly different although we expect a close encounter, this game should be a spectacle to watch.
Predicted Lineups
Cräiteland (3-5-2): 1 J Vorgensen (GK), 22 D Hjansen, 6 P Demhivo, 3 A Proten, 7 Manta P (CAPT), 14 H Zensen, 13 Y Senovichi, 20 A Chentzansio-Herä, 11 M Edmildón, 10 F Gaärsen, 15 Z Daviddlaw.
Tellia (4-1-2-3): 12 S Di Maggio (GK), 2 V Hertz, 23 M Schiavvi, 5 R Lavichelli, 21 V Chiellini, 6 L Bortolotti, 8 I Mahler, 11 V Motta, 10 F Diamo (CAPT), 17 P Donetti, 18 J Romána.

Re: 2011 FMF World Cup - OFFICIAL THREAD
Nova England v Antica
As we find out the decider in one game, Cerce hosts a completely different game. For both of these sides, it's just a matter of pride and joy as they go into their final game already knowing that they have failed to progress. In what was the Group of Death, it turned out that the Tellians and the Craits were much more controlled and created a dominant presence as these two sides struggled to cope or step up under the huge pressure against them. Nova England have a right to defend themselves from their exit, as they are a team much in transition of bringing in new players and are looking to the future tournaments and the same could be said for Antica. The Anticans have really progressed from what seemed to be almost nothing. The Antican league setup was established, the players were getting regular game time and the best end result was: Antica was at the World Cup for the first time. Whilst they may be slightly disappointed with their progress this year, with the speed that they have done things in the space of a year, we shudder to think what they can do by the end of next year as they look to be on their way to be developing a force.
The Nova English side will make no changes at all to their side, using the game as a final fair well for the likes of Andrew Lee and Ka'an Peterson. Peterson, 32, will be expected to retire from the game, whilst partnering striker Lee is expected to retire to focus on his domestic career as a player for Róndlinga Diamonds. Jeff Johnson will lead the side out for the final game this year, but there will be no questions at all about his future as we expect him to be the skipper this time next year providing they qualify. The Nova English will continue their 4-3-3 system, and with the likes of Theodore Sinclair and Nicolas Harfield coming through the ranks, their future appears to be in good shape with a new generation of talent rising through the ranks.
Antica and their rapid development will look to progress; however with the Antican FA making the decision of sacking George Pappajohn as manager ahead of the final game. Whilst assistant Jason Biggles will take care of the final game, it seemed that the Anticans will look to hire a more high profile manager next season, the Antican players themselves can be proud of what they've done so far, and can hold their heads high as they continue to progress as a footballing nation. Nigel Newman is expected to stay in goal after a brilliant display of goalkeeping skills against Cräiteland despite the 1-6 result, whilst there are changes around the whole field. The 4-4-2 system remains, however 3 changes are made. Marcel Monaco is demoted to the bench as Winston Genz joins the central of defence to partner skipper Roman Abrahmov. Alexander Kern moves into the central midfield as Mick Nick is replaced with Bob Eteander, who starts on the right flank and finally Curtis O'Toole, who has been unimpressive despite going into the campaign with good form is also dropped with the caretaker coach favouring the recall of Bob Ends.
Predicted Lineups:
Nova England (4-3-3): 1 N Harfield (GK), 2 C Austonov, 4 J Mattel, 12 F Da Costa, 3 M Ragnus, 11 Rich. Jones, 6 J Johnson (CAPT), 9 P Nelson, 10 K Peterson, 15 A Lee, 7 T Sinclair.
Antica (4-4-2): 1 N Newman (GK), 2 D Smith, 15 W Genz, 4 R Abrahmov (CAPT), 5 H Dausch, 8 B Eteander, 7 A Blarg, 6 A Kern, 19 M College, 20 M Zeteb, 10 B Ends.

Group D - Final Games (GAME 3)
Batavia v Interland
It's time to move back up towards Syrelwynn as the Halberd Arena now hosts the clash between two sides which cannot be separated in the group stages. In the last two World Cups, Interland and Batavia have clashed at this stage, and last time it resulted in a 2-1 victory to the Batavians. This time round, it is for certain that the Interland side will want to seek revenge; however when qualification is at stake it may be a case of conservation and seeing the game out. Whilst Batavia definitely need to win, the only thing that the EMUFA team have to do is not lose to the Batavians.
The Batavians, with the now or never approach needed in what potentially could be final game of this campaign have opted to make 3 changes to the squad as they look to improve from 2 draws in what looked to be mediocre performances from last year's quarter-finalists. Rick Ritsma is called up to the defence in place of Nul van Enen, whilst Tom Scholten is recalled to his first start of the campaign, replacing an ineffectual Hendrik De Boer. Jowi Bach has also been dropped after failing to score in the opening two matches, with Roel van Zenderen taking his place up front alongside Jeroen van Veen and Jodocus van Haltna.
Interland on the other hand have made 2 changes with some sense of conservation. Zbigniew Kolarek looks to have been rested to prevent a possible yellow card suspension; whilst Jerzy Golánski has been dropped in favour of Mariusz Gazetowicz. Filip Maskat rejoins the midfield for his first international start since the EMU earlier this year.
Interestingly, both sides appear to be playing the same formation in the form of 4-3-3; which leads to suggest that there maybe a lot of battles in all areas of the the pitch. However, we hope it doesn't turn into a match where one team tries to cancel each other out. Whilst Interland would want to settle for that, the Batavians have to really go out there and attack, as they know that the only way that they can progress is with a win.
Predicted Lineups
Batavia (4-3-3): 1 T Meesen (GK) (CAPT), 10 R van Rethel, 16 R Ritsma, 4 J Meesters, 3 A Hodzelmans, 8 P Leefma, 13 T Scholten, 9 G Reve, 2 J van Veen, 17 R van Zenderen, 14 J van Haltna.

Re: 2011 FMF World Cup - OFFICIAL THREAD
Hamland v Babkha
In this tightly contested group, the fixture at Kingsgate at the Kostalan Rottsaa Memorial Stadium is also going to matter in terms of the group standings. Hamland may want to have an easy game with no thrills and spills as they look to secure a draw or a win to seal their progress into the next round; however their opponents will have the uneasy task of having to win by 4 or more goals in order to progress. The Babkhans may be a long shot away from this, but they have by no means given up.
Hamland will make one change, with Vecchiacittà bound defender Jonathan O'Hara joining the defence as Ray Kartiksti is demoted to the bench. There are no real surprises or shakeups in this change, with the main threat coming from up front with the partnership of Andrew Miller and Benjamin Craig. Yet again, MMFC's Billy McVeigh starts on the left side of the midfield whilst Eric Heinhorn takes the place on the right flank.
Babkha will look to have no surprises as they look to play the same side as previously. Mahmoud Merhaban remains in goal, whilst Ferhad Alelhwerda will lead the side, as they look to the forward force of Keameshad Jewada to lift the side through. Manager George Pellegrino has instructed the team to continue the defensive mentality as set out against Batavia; however he is demanding a more direct play with longer balls and quicker counter attacking breaks.
It may seem as if the Babkhans have a mountain to climb, and while most teams would have given up by this stage, there is no sign of them doing just that. As long as it is still mathematically possible, Babkha appears to have the hunger and determination to fight and compete until the final whistle. Despite being finalists last year when they hosted the tournament, Hamland can not view this as an easy match. With the motivation their opponents have within their team, the Hammish will want to keep the game as quiet as possible and shut it off before Babkha can pose a threat.
Predicted Lineups
Hamland (3-5-2): 1 R MacLeod (GK) (CAPT), 4 J O'Hara, 15 E Winters, 6 P MacKenzie, 8 E Heinhorn, 16 I O'Hara, 10 J Scott, 5 E Martin, 23 B McVeigh, 11 B Craig, 21 A Miller.
