Re: 2011 FMF World Cup - OFFICIAL THREAD
Group C - Final Games (GAME 3)
Cräiteland v Tellia
Mortis Mercatoria are used to staging big games as the PSL champions currently play their trade at Haunted Park; however this probably will beat it as the stadium is absolutely electric. Whilst the stadium is used to seeing black and blue stripes, the stadium has temporarily switched to Craitish white and the Rose & Green of Tellia. This surely has to be one of the biggest games we've seen in this year's Group Stages, and the travelling support are not keeping themselves quiet, with both of these sides being founding FMF members and have a long history domestically with both the Serie A and League 1s respectively.
And although both are through, Cräiteland are the ones that have the upper edge so far. A draw will be enough for them to win the group. Already knowing the potential possibility of facing Shireroth or Alexandria in the next round, both sides will probably want to avoid the other. The Craits have decided to take a more conservative approach and although they've rested several players, the team looks fairly strong and will still look competitive. Jon Anders Larsen is rested as Daniel Hjansen replaces him in the defence, whilst Hänä Zensen, Al Chentzansio-Herä and Zen Daviddlaw or come in as Hjan Herä, Toby Vorgensen and Tommy Hjansen are all rested.
Tellia, whose manager Angelo Perrotta has clearly stated prior to the tournament that they fear no opposition, will be hoping to prove the rest of Micras that the Craitish are not invincible; however with the majority of the team being rested, it may be a tough task ahead for the ambitious youngsters. After seeing Ashkenatza crash out, the Tellians will be the Ashkenatzis last hope of progressing as the team belongs to the Tellian territories east of the Republic. And despite progressing, it looks like the Tellians might have settled for 2nd and have resigned to defeat as they make 7 changes in total. Simone Di Maggio replaces CTFC's goalkeeper Roberto Flavienchini, whilst Pasquale di Montezemolo and Alessandro De Laurentiis are both rested as Marco Schiavvi and Vitantonio Chiellini come into the defence. Leonardo Bortolotti and Vincenzo Motta join the midfield as Frederico Diamo gets pushed further forward and will lead the side out, with Sezer Özker also being rested. Marko Zajc and Anthony Denoix-Moreau are also benched as Júlio Romána and prolific Craitish League 1 striker Piero Donetti start.
We expected this game to be one of the highlights in this group of death; however judging by the two sides that are being fielded, Cräiteland do look like they have the edge. Whilst Tellia have started resting the majority of their players already despite needing a win to finish first, the Craits still aim to be competitive. The last time the two sides have met was when in 2007 when Tellian predecessors Gaia were still in the frame, which resulted in a 0-0 draw. However this time on neutral territory, the story could be slightly different although we expect a close encounter, this game should be a spectacle to watch.
Predicted Lineups
Cräiteland (3-5-2): 1 J Vorgensen (GK), 22 D Hjansen, 6 P Demhivo, 3 A Proten, 7 Manta P (CAPT), 14 H Zensen, 13 Y Senovichi, 20 A Chentzansio-Herä, 11 M Edmildón, 10 F Gaärsen, 15 Z Daviddlaw.

Re: 2011 FMF World Cup - OFFICIAL THREAD
Nova England v Antica
As we find out the decider in one game, Cerce hosts a completely different game. For both of these sides, it's just a matter of pride and joy as they go into their final game already knowing that they have failed to progress. In what was the Group of Death, it turned out that the Tellians and the Craits were much more controlled and created a dominant presence as these two sides struggled to cope or step up under the huge pressure against them. Nova England have a right to defend themselves from their exit, as they are a team much in transition of bringing in new players and are looking to the future tournaments and the same could be said for Antica. The Anticans have really progressed from what seemed to be almost nothing. The Antican league setup was established, the players were getting regular game time and the best end result was: Antica was at the World Cup for the first time. Whilst they may be slightly disappointed with their progress this year, with the speed that they have done things in the space of a year, we shudder to think what they can do by the end of next year as they look to be on their way to be developing a force.
The Nova English side will make no changes at all to their side, using the game as a final fair well for the likes of Andrew Lee and Ka'an Peterson. Peterson, 32, will be expected to retire from the game, whilst partnering striker Lee is expected to retire to focus on his domestic career as a player for Róndlinga Diamonds. Jeff Johnson will lead the side out for the final game this year, but there will be no questions at all about his future as we expect him to be the skipper this time next year providing they qualify. The Nova English will continue their 4-3-3 system, and with the likes of Theodore Sinclair and Nicolas Harfield coming through the ranks, their future appears to be in good shape with a new generation of talent rising through the ranks.
Antica and their rapid development will look to progress; however with the Antican FA making the decision of sacking George Pappajohn as manager ahead of the final game. Whilst assistant Jason Biggles will take care of the final game, it seemed that the Anticans will look to hire a more high profile manager next season, the Antican players themselves can be proud of what they've done so far, and can hold their heads high as they continue to progress as a footballing nation. Nigel Newman is expected to stay in goal after a brilliant display of goalkeeping skills against Cräiteland despite the 1-6 result, whilst there are changes around the whole field. The 4-4-2 system remains, however 3 changes are made. Marcel Monaco is demoted to the bench as Winston Genz joins the central of defence to partner skipper Roman Abrahmov. Alexander Kern moves into the central midfield as Mick Nick is replaced with Bob Eteander, who starts on the right flank and finally Curtis O'Toole, who has been unimpressive despite going into the campaign with good form is also dropped with the caretaker coach favouring the recall of Bob Ends.
Predicted Lineups:
Nova England (4-3-3): 1 N Harfield (GK), 2 C Austonov, 4 J Mattel, 12 F Da Costa, 3 M Ragnus, 11 Rich. Jones, 6 J Johnson (CAPT), 9 P Nelson, 10 K Peterson, 15 A Lee, 7 T Sinclair.
Antica (4-4-2): 1 N Newman (GK), 2 D Smith, 15 W Genz, 4 R Abrahmov (CAPT), 5 H Dausch, 8 B Eteander, 7 A Blarg, 6 A Kern, 19 M College, 20 M Zeteb, 10 B Ends.

Group D - Final Games (GAME 3)
Batavia v Interland
It's time to move back up towards Syrelwynn as the Halberd Arena now hosts the clash between two sides which cannot be separated in the group stages. In the last two World Cups, Interland and Batavia have clashed at this stage, and last time it resulted in a 2-1 victory to the Batavians. This time round, it is for certain that the Interland side will want to seek revenge; however when qualification is at stake it may be a case of conservation and seeing the game out. Whilst Batavia definitely need to win, the only thing that the EMUFA team have to do is not lose to the Batavians.
The Batavians, with the now or never approach needed in what potentially could be final game of this campaign have opted to make 3 changes to the squad as they look to improve from 2 draws in what looked to be mediocre performances from last year's quarter-finalists. Rick Ritsma is called up to the defence in place of Nul van Enen, whilst Tom Scholten is recalled to his first start of the campaign, replacing an ineffectual Hendrik De Boer. Jowi Bach has also been dropped after failing to score in the opening two matches, with Roel van Zenderen taking his place up front alongside Jeroen van Veen and Jodocus van Haltna.
Interland on the other hand have made 2 changes with some sense of conservation. Zbigniew Kolarek looks to have been rested to prevent a possible yellow card suspension; whilst Jerzy Golánski has been dropped in favour of Mariusz Gazetowicz. Filip Maskat rejoins the midfield for his first international start since the EMU earlier this year.
Interestingly, both sides appear to be playing the same formation in the form of 4-3-3; which leads to suggest that there maybe a lot of battles in all areas of the the pitch. However, we hope it doesn't turn into a match where one team tries to cancel each other out. Whilst Interland would want to settle for that, the Batavians have to really go out there and attack, as they know that the only way that they can progress is with a win.
Predicted Lineups
Batavia (4-3-3): 1 T Meesen (GK) (CAPT), 10 R van Rethel, 16 R Ritsma, 4 J Meesters, 3 A Hodzelmans, 8 P Leefma, 13 T Scholten, 9 G Reve, 2 J van Veen, 17 R van Zenderen, 14 J van Haltna.
Interland (4-3-3): 1 J Kepp (GK) (CAPT), 2 L Ziebro, 4 H Diabel, 17 K Lukasz, 3 A Anders, 6 F Maskat, 5 O Lapacz, 12 T Mostowny, 11 M Gazetowicz, 10 M Wyzywan, 18 M Orwolski.

Re: 2011 FMF World Cup - OFFICIAL THREAD
Hamland v Babkha
In this tightly contested group, the fixture at Kingsgate at the Kostalan Rottsaa Memorial Stadium is also going to matter in terms of the group standings. Hamland may want to have an easy game with no thrills and spills as they look to secure a draw or a win to seal their progress into the next round; however their opponents will have the uneasy task of having to win by 4 or more goals in order to progress. The Babkhans may be a long shot away from this, but they have by no means given up.
Hamland will make one change, with Vecchiacittà bound defender Jonathan O'Hara joining the defence as Ray Kartiksti is demoted to the bench. There are no real surprises or shakeups in this change, with the main threat coming from up front with the partnership of Andrew Miller and Benjamin Craig. Yet again, MMFC's Billy McVeigh starts on the left side of the midfield whilst Eric Heinhorn takes the place on the right flank.
Babkha will look to have no surprises as they look to play the same side as previously. Mahmoud Merhaban remains in goal, whilst Ferhad Alelhwerda will lead the side, as they look to the forward force of Keameshad Jewada to lift the side through. Manager George Pellegrino has instructed the team to continue the defensive mentality as set out against Batavia; however he is demanding a more direct play with longer balls and quicker counter attacking breaks.
It may seem as if the Babkhans have a mountain to climb, and while most teams would have given up by this stage, there is no sign of them doing just that. As long as it is still mathematically possible, Babkha appears to have the hunger and determination to fight and compete until the final whistle. Despite being finalists last year when they hosted the tournament, Hamland can not view this as an easy match. With the motivation their opponents have within their team, the Hammish will want to keep the game as quiet as possible and shut it off before Babkha can pose a threat.
Predicted Lineups
Hamland (3-5-2): 1 R MacLeod (GK) (CAPT), 4 J O'Hara, 15 E Winters, 6 P MacKenzie, 8 E Heinhorn, 16 I O'Hara, 10 J Scott, 5 E Martin, 23 B McVeigh, 11 B Craig, 21 A Miller.

Alexandria vs Cräiteland
The groups are now done and dusted. The top two teams of each sides have been decided and it's now time to move onto the knockout stages of the tournament. And we first head to Syrelwynn for our first Quarter-Final clash between Alexandria and Cräiteland. The last time that these two sides have met at a World Cup stage was in 2009 when Alexandria saw the Craits off 3-1 on home turf to progress to the final, when they went on to win the World Cup that year. There may be a sense of revenge for Cräiteland to get back at the Alexandrians, as they were on for a hat-trick of World Cup victories. This battle between the current champions and the 2009 champions should simmer into a nice encounter.
Alexandria's route here has been the pick of the two teams. After disposing Toketi 1-0, they then went on to beat the hosts Shireroth 2-1; before fielding a 2nd string team and resting big players, yet managing to thrash Taeland 6-1. This means Les Bleus go into the game unbeaten and took the maximum 9 points through the Group Stages. Cräiteland on the other hand finished with 2 wins with a total of 6 points. After beating Nova England in a close 3-2 win, they went on to thrash Antica 6-1 and although they looked to have sealed a draw with Tellia in the final game, a late goal from Frederico Diamo denied them from being unbeaten in the group stages. Questions will be raised about the mentality and the morale of the Craits as they will need to pick themselves up from a shock defeat. Alexandria meanwhile will look for momentum to carry them through.
After fielding a 2nd string team, it's back a more usual team for the Alexandrians. The likes of Cesc Xavi, Sébastien Focán, Florent Lassana-Traoré, Tamer Modrem and Fábio González return as they make 8 changes to the side that faced the Taes. Despite scoring a hat-trick, Alexis Carrasco can only make the bench, whilst Martin Esmé has also not been recalled as Ibrahima Diarra carries on in the defence, this time partnering Vecchiacittà's Cyril Kopaczewski.
Cräiteland, who also made a mass number of changes will look to revert to their usual side. Strangely enough, they only make 3 changes, with Jon Anders Larsen, Hjan Herä and Toby Vorgensen returning to the side as Zen Daviddlaw keeps his place ahead of Tommy Hjansen up front to partner Freddie Gaärsen.
With both sides looking remarkably strong, you'd be a brave man to bet on either side winning. Due to the strength of both teams, we really hope for an exciting match. The previous game between Cräiteland and Tellia failed to live up to the hype, and we hope that this one goes a different way; however following what we saw in that match, the chances of each team cancelling each other out will be very high and we may have to see a little more than 90 minutes to find the outcome on this one.
Predicted Lineups:
Alexandria (4-2-1-3): 13 D Pedro (GK), 19 J Santos, 5 C Kopaczewski, 14 I Diarra, 3 M Pegazo, 4 J P D'Oliviera, 6 Cesc Xavi A (CAPT), 8 S Focán, 10 T Modrem, 11 F Lassana-Traoré, 7 F González.
Cräiteland (3-5-2): 1 J Vorgensen (GK), 2 J A Larsen, 6 P Demhivo, 3 A Proten, 7 Manta P (CAPT), 5 H Herä, 13 Y Senovichi, 8 T Vorgensen, 11 M Edmildón, 10 F Gaärsen, 15 Z Daviddlaw.

Re: 2011 FMF World Cup - OFFICIAL THREAD
Tellia v Shireroth
We now move to Mortis Mercatoria, and after the very noisy scenes we saw earlier in the week when Tellia triumphed against Cräiteland here, it's clear to say that we expect it to go a level higher as the hosts Shireroth take on Tellia. Remaining tickets seemed to have quickly sold out after the news came that Shireroth finished 2nd, and there looks to be no empty seat in the house. It is fair to say that despite the large audiences feeling optimistic about the tournament, the draw did push some doubts. Realistically, the Shirerithians would not have wanted to face either the Craits or the Tellians, but they are in this situation and whilst they are on home soil, the home advantage may prove to have a different twist to the game.
The Tellians, like the Alexandrians in Group A took maximum points in the group stages. A 2-0 win over Antica and two late 1-0 victories over Nova England and Cräiteland allowed them to take 3 wins out of 3; however with unconvincing displays there are still questions over Angelo Perrotta's side. It seems that Tellia have gone to a more defensive approach under the manager, with the team now understanding that results are far more important than putting on a display. Despite their wins earlier on in the campaign, many fans have criticised the Tellian style of play and describing it as "non-Gaian", comparing it to the style that many of the former CIS block nations use to play. Shireroth on the other hand, managed to take 6 points, opening the campaign up with a 4-1 win over Taeland before a narrow defeat to Alexandria. Despite a shaky start against Toketi after falling 1-0 down, the side managed to rescue their World Cup hopes after Tór Svensson managed to put them back level to draw 1-1 and sail into the quarters with ease. Moving onto the hosts Shireroth, under manager Paolo Ste-Laurent the side have been playing very well, striking a balance between attractive attacking play whilst trying to remain responsible at the back (there were doubts prior to the tournament about the defence, but it is safe to say that they are proving critics wrong).
The Tellians, who will undoubtedly be considered favourites going into this match, will play a much more familiar side after resting key players in their previous game against Cräiteland. The 7 changes are reverted as Roberto Flavienchini, Pasquale di Montezemolo, Alessandro De Laurentiis, Massimo Santoni, Sezer Özker, Marko Zajc and Anthony Denoix-Moreau return to the side. Frederico Diamo moves back to his holding position, whilst the side will depend on the front three of Özker, Zajc and Denoix-Moreau to get the goals coming in. Despite being 1 of 2 teams to finish the group with maximum points, the Tellians have scored the least amount of goals out of the 8 quarter-finalists.
Shireroth, who will be looking to cause an upset in front of their home fans will look to make only two changes. The notable change will be at the back, with manager Paolo Ste-Laurent opting to revert back to the defence in the opening match against Taeland. Alexander Bonero starts at right-back, whilst Matthew Castaraghi moves into the defence to partner Nuno Santos Gomez as Juli Rhahédar drops to the bench. The other change is in the midfield, with JHI-LK captain Rranr Kikksta replaced with the rescue hero Tór Svensson in the centre of the pack. There are no changes up front, and whilst Lamberti leads the attack, the main player we will look at will be Adolf Mather, who is leading his nation's scoring charts with 2 goals.
Ironically enough, many pundits in the footballing world of Micras have said that Shireroth play more like Tellia than the Tellian team actually does; whilst that may be under the influence of the manager, it is fair to say that Ste-Laurent will not be yielding to his home nation and will be looking to take them out and win a second World Cup to place on his CV. However, if we look at the last two games that these side face, Shireroth have lost both of them, and whilst they may be the underdogs in this match they will also want to set the record straight. Shireroth want to win it on home soil, and they want to impress. This is their chance, this is their moment, and if they manage to beat the defensively minded Tellians then this could well and truly be their year.
Predicted Lineups:
Tellia (4-1-2-3): 16 R Flavienchini (GK), 2 V Hertz, 4 P di Montezemolo, 5 R Lavichelli, 3 A De Laurentiis, 10 F Diamo, 14 M Santoni, 8 I Mahler, 7 S Özker (CAPT), 9 A Denoix-Moreau, 15 M Zajc.
Shireroth (4-3-3): 20 A du Nigrad (GK), 23 A Bonero, 2 M Castaraghi, 4 N Santos Gomez, 3 E Didinho (CAPT), 9 J Vidarsson, 17 T Svensson, 7 T Llwrran, 10 G Smith, 8 K Lamberti, 16 A Mather.

Re: 2011 FMF World Cup - OFFICIAL THREAD
Passas v Hamland
*Played Yesterday*
High security, early scraps between each set of fans - you can already see this is a rivalry match. Although things haven't spiralled off into mass violence, both Passas & Hamland will face a inter-Kingdom battle as one of them will look to proceed into the semi-finals. With their potential opponents played yesterday, one of these two teams will be handed the tough task of current champions Cräiteland in the semi-finals, and both sides would relish this opportunity as the heat kicks around Docklands Stadium near the outskirts of the capital.
Passas have had an easy ride to progressing. An early draw against Natopia casted doubts on their progression; however a change in selection and a regrouping in the squad allowed them to bounce back to two victories: a convincing 3-1 win over Victoria followed by thrilling encounter against Ashkenatza ending in a 4-2 win. The Ashkenatzi side were fairly unlucky to see a player sent off; however the Passasean high work rate and huge influence from Lukasz Dabrowski allowed them to come back from 2-1 down to winning the match and proceeding after a shaky performance. Two wins on the trot now will probably mean that they will be high in confidence; although the question is whether anyone else can step up and help Dabrowski who is effectively lifting the team through the campaign.
Hamland on the other hand have had a shaky group stage and despite beating Interland 3-1, they still managed to find themselves behind the Interlandians in 2nd place. An initial draw against the Batavians and a victory against Interland put them in the front running spot before the final group game; however with the team wasting chances left, right and centre, the last year hosts could only manage a 2-2 draw against Babkha - the same Babkha which lost its opening game 7-2 to Interland. The main concern now for them is their taking of chances. With the pedigree of Andrew Miller and Benjamin Craig up front as well as other attacking minded players in the midfield, you should expect Hamland to have good goalscoring ability, but considering how wasteful they were the last game, they would definitely want to start afresh in this one.
Passas unsurprisingly will be looking to make no changes at all, with the side looking towards Lukasz Dabrowski to score the goals. Philipp Sherman still cannot back into the side due to the goalscoring performance of Alex Danelon, who has managed to score in each of the two games he's started. Meanwhile, despite early doubts Sa Pazi will start on the right hand side despite the more natural selection of Thomas Ellsworth being an option from the bench.
Hamland will make one change at the back, but despite their lack of converting opportunities there are no changes at the front of the field. Ray Kartiksti returns to the squad as Jonathan O'Hara drops back after making his one and only appearance so far in the tournament against the Babkhans.
This game could go either way and with the huge intensity in the rivalry, I wouldn't want to be the losing side at all. The security have done a good job by keeping the fans under control; although there is a slight possibility that things could spiral out into a much chaotic scene at the end of the game.
Predicted Lineups:
Passas (4-1-2-1-2): 1 M East (GK), 18 G Sinyakos, 2 O Hurtado, 6 N Davis, 3 S Bonny, 5 T Arans, 13 S Pazi, 10 D Đorđević, 8 N Verkslamp (CAPT), 9 Ł Dąbrowski, 22 A Danelon.
Hamland (3-5-2): 1 R MacLeod (GK) (CAPT), 2 R Kartiksti, 15 E Winters, 6 P MacKenzie, 8 E Heinhorn, 16 I O'Hara, 10 J Scott, 5 E Martin, 23 B McVeigh, 11 B Craig, 21 A Miller.

Re: 2011 FMF World Cup - OFFICIAL THREAD
Interland v Natopia
*Played 29th August*
Whilst Hamland and Passas were locked into an intense rival clash, the final quarter final game here at Kingsgate. With both teams hoping to book their tickets to Yardistan for the semi-finals, only one can progress and with each side fancying their chances, it should be a very exciting game. By the looks of things, there won't be any easy games in the semi finals; however with both teams sizing up their opposition, the mindset for both sets of players will definitely be on winning as both will eye each other as easy opposition.
The Interlandians come into this tie as group winners from Group D. An early display which resulting in a 7-2 thrashing against the Babkhans led to defeat against Hamland, leaving the side going into the final game with 1 win and 1 loss. With their final game against Batavia, fans looking ahead were very pessimistic as it seemed that Interland were so close yet so far once again as their World Cup disappointment looked to continue; however somehow the team went against the odds and went on to triumph after coming back from a goal down to win 2-1, winning the group in the process.
The Natopians have had a different story. When going into the tournament, many believed that Group B would be a fairly open contest, but the reality showed something completely different. A 2-2 draw with Passas did not seem to look promising; however a 2-0 win over early front runners Ashkenatza changed the complete complexion of the group - with Natopia looking pretty strong and likely to progress. Having said that though, the Natopians did need some help from the Passaseans, a 4-1 loss was not what they wanted to end the group stages with; however with a Passas victory in the final game, it assured the Natopians will go through.
Interland will look to make 1 change, with sole yellow card holder Zbigniew Kolarek returning to the side ahead of Filip Maskat. Kolarek, who picked up his yellow card in the opening game against Babkha will miss the semi-final should he pick up another yellow card today; but there will be music to Interland's ears if he isn't booked though - as yellow cards will be washed out before the next round if they proceed, meaning that no player will miss the final if they get there providing they do not get sent off. With their 4-3-3 system in place, one player who will hope to score a goal will be striker Jerzy Golánski. Out of all the starting forwards, Golánski hasn't yet scored a goal and while he wonders when it will come, the nation and their fans will be hoping for another man to get back to form - Marian Wyzywan. Wyzywan, who scored 4 goals in the opening match has not scored since and his tally has now been levelled with compatriot Marcin Orwolski - another player the Interlandians will look to for goals.
Natopia on the other hand have surprisingly kept the same starting 11, despite losing to Victoria 5-2. There will be no change in the line up; however should this be the case we will be expecting some sort of tactical change. The Natopians will undoubtedly look towards Raymond Luxury-Yacht for the goals. The captain has been a influential member for the team, and showed his worth in the previous game by scoring a screamer from outside the box. The side will also hope that striker Arthur Pavle to continue his rich goalscoring form. The 28 year old is leading his nations goalscoring charts with 3 goals and is 1 of 2 Natopians that have actually scored a goal this campaign.
Whilst Natopia have been at this stage before, the Interlandians will be stepping into new territory which already will be their best performance in a World Cup campaign. Regardless of who progresses, it will be the further they've got in any campaign, as Natopia crashed out at this stage last year. Both teams will see each other as easy opposition; however the prospect of facing hosts Shireroth in the semi-finals may be a daunting task; nevertheless they will fancy a shot at the final regardless of who goes through.
Predicted Lineups:
Interland (4-3-3): 1 J Kepp (GK) (CAPT), 2 L Ziebro, 4 H Diabel, 17 K Lukasz, 3 A Anders, 14 Z Kolarek, 5 O Lapacz, 12 T Mostowny, 11 M Gazetowicz, 10 M Wyzywan, 18 M Orwolski.
Natopia (4-4-2): 23 G Concorde (GK), 17 G Tedeschi, 19 Leonardo D S, 5 R Azin, 2 J Benden, 8 I Cunmulaj, 12 R Luxury-Yacht (CAPT), 14 J Shin, 9 J Murphy-Lee, 6 A Pavle, 21 M Stanescu.
