Shhhhhhh, you OWL! LOLSenya wrote:Well, I think the final is going to be Alexandria v Hamland. :p
(this is something about superstition... we do this with the fingers to avoid bad luck, such as when someone says you can get to a final when you are only starting to play)

Natopia and Toketi played-out a tense affair in their final Group B outing, with both knowing that a win would put them in prime position of making the quarter-finals, but neither wanting to risk going behind. After half an hour of tedious play, in which Natopia's Ilyas Chowdhury had the best chance with his thirty-yard striker being tipped over by Loran ronAjain, Toketi went ahead against the run of play. Teenage striker Liam ronHamuji made the most of some poor positioning from the Natopian defenders, who were playing a high line as they attacked from a corner, as he was found by a perfectly-timed crossfield ball by Ichigo Trask to be put clear. The Shirerithian-based forward, whose first call-up was last year's finals, had no trouble dispatching against Gaillard Concorde, choosing to fein shooting across the goal before shifting his weight and going near post to score Toketi's first of the tournament. Even with the goal coming against the run of play, and with Natopia's dominance being restored straight after, Toketi should have doubled their lead right before the break but Tom Kenstein's close-range shot was somehow deflected wide by a seemlingly-oblivious Concorde to keep them in the match.Spoiler!
Following half time, Natopia persisted with their dominant play, and another Chowdhury thunderbolt had the crowd on its feet as it went agonisingly over the bar almost direct from the kick-off. Newcomer to the national set-up Loki had a solid game, being unmatched by Nick Furben in the centre, and a curling shot from him was also well-saved by ronAjain junior. It wasn't until the final quarter of an hour when Natopia eventually put their prowess to good effect, thanks to a goal from the bench. With Arthur Pavle fatigued, George V. Saint-François Xavier came-on upfront, and the substitute didn't let his team down. With another Natopian attack, Joshua Murphy-Lee strode forward from defence, putting in a devilish cross which evaded Karter jënHalain and fell to Chowdhury. The Club Imperiale man leathered the ball from only two yards out towards to goal, but ronAjain was in the way. The youngster saved it without meaning to, deflecting the ball across the goal where Saint-François Xavier was waiting to bundle it in from less than a yard out with his thigh. As before, Natopia weren't going to risk missing-out on the knock-outs on goal difference and looked for a winner, but couldn't find one as Toketi hoped for another breakaway attack. With the match ending a draw, Toketi knew they hadn't done enough this time round, but the Natopians had to await the final minutes of the other match to find-out their fate.

Ocia went into a match which nobody expected them to win knowing that they could still advance to the quarter-finals with a loss as long as they scored more than Natopia, who also had to draw their final game. However, the débutants (in their current form) clearly didn't want to sneak into the knock-out stages and instead looked for a shock win over a Hammish side which had already sealed their place as group winners. Instead, the Ocians' attacking approach was their downfall as they committed too many bodies forward too soon and left a gap at the back for Andrew Miller to exploit. The Craitish-based young striker was played through with almost half the pitch at his mercy, running a good thirty yards unimpeded by any Ocian player before lashing the ball past the hopeless and lonely Rok Celcer who could only do his best to narrow the angle. Despite Celcer's efforts, Miller had far too much time and space, and carefully picked his spot in the postage stamp corner before powering a swerving shot straight into it from 25 yards. Despite this set-back, the Ocians weren't put-off, sending numerous attacks forward for the rest of the half, but failing to trouble Rodney MacLeod as his defence held-up. Ocia did equalise though, getting their second of the campaign just before half time though Hamland-bound Lubomír Jelić. The young striker, who has decided to join EMUFA Champions' League holders Morfaga North Rangers, showed his new supporters what to expect with an acrobatic diving header to put Ocia level. Goran Vrhunc, who scored in the team's opening game, played a deftly-chipped through ball over the Hammish defence, but it looked to be too close to MacLeod to threaten before Jelić appeared out of nowhere from behind Peter MacKenȝie to make contact with his head and divert it past the 'keeper as he stretched to collect it.Spoiler!
The Ocians were ecstatic going into the break, but news soon filtered through of Toketi's lead in the other match and it became known a draw would not be enough for them. The other scoreline must have affected the Ocian coach's tactics as they came-out fighting yet again, looking to go ahead rather than hold-on to the point, but again a relatively-early goal knocked them off their stride. Within twelve minutes of the kick-off, Hamland were back ahead, this time through Kieran Crooks, who had just come-on. The number nine replaced joint-top scorer Benjamin Craig at half-time and only needed a handful of touches before scoring. The forward received the ball from Miller on the edge of the box before taking it wide past Damjani Lazič. Looking up and finding no options, Crooks again fooled Lazič, cutting-in, before doing the same to Pinto Juárez to find space, where he swung his left boot to shoot. The shot wasn't the cleanest, going along the ground, but it had enough pace of it to take it past Celcer, whose vision must have been affected by the crowded box, and into the bottom-left corner, kissing the foot of the post as it rolled. After going ahead for the second time, Hamland's composure and experienced showed, with lengthy passing moves abound, but it was Ocia who had the most dangerous chance. Only minutes after hearing Natopia had equalised, Niko Jeglič almost scored the goal which would have put Ocia in the driving seat, but his curling free-kick from out wide, in an area more suited for crossing, wasn't enough and could only smack off the outside of the upright and away. With only ten minutes left, the Ocians knew they had to score to stand a chance and threw everything at the Hammish net; with one low cross-box delivery, three players ended-up in the back of the net as they tried to make contact, but the ball was elusive and was cleared before they got a decisive touch to it. In the last minute, however, the match was put to bed by Ian O'Hara, whose patience on the edge of the area paid-off as Crooks jinked his way through before laying back to the midfielder, who shot low and hard into the net with Celcer unmoving. With a loss and a goal deficit of two, Ocia's dream was over for another year as Natopia's draw was enough to get them through on goal difference, becoming the first team to reach the FMF World Cup knock-out stages without winning a match and with only two points to their name.

Interlandian Coach has been dismissed due to failure to push the Interlandian team through the group stage of FMF World Cup
The 4th team on the globe did not manage to win any of three matches, and has ended up last in Group A. The failure was quickly attributed by the media to the coach of the Interlandian Team, Adam Zapadny, who is said to undermine the younger players' efforts to join the national team and is playing with roughly the same set for nearly three years. Interlandian Football Association will hold a meeting on Monday to call a new coach for national team. It is believed that most probable choice would be Vladim'er Bellefront, current coach of FC Novograd and formerly one of the most talented Gvezda-origin players.
