I really thought Craitland were going to bottle it in those last minutes of extra time! Let's hope they've saved that for the next game

Alexandria 4-2 Craitland (AET)
16' - T. Isrdlvarien
45' - C. Kopaczewski
56' - T. Modrem
80' - F. Gaärsen
120' - F. de la Vega
120' - Álexis C.
Two last-minute extra-time goals sealed third place for the Alexandrians, who saved face from what they considered a failed tournament over an unfortunate Craitland.
Both nations fielded a side with changes from their respectively narrow semi-final losses, with the most notable modification being Crait Freddie Gaärsen left-out after missing two consecutive shoot-out penalties. Alexandria, following a poor performance against Hamland, changed a number of midfielders and their front line to allow squad players an appearance in the tournament. Craitland, off the back of a penalty loss, started the game well, forging a wave of attacks over the opening quarter of an hour which culminated in a first tournament goal for Tim Isrdlvarien. The forward, who started every game this summer, latched-on to a clipped pass into the box from Lucas Zaya, beating Cyril Kopaczewski with a diving header to divert the ball through Jean-Alain Foucault's leap. After taking the lead, the Craits were less enthusiastic moving forward, and Alexandria slowly clawed back possession and created threats. Florent Lassana-Traoré went close halfway through the half, half-volleying into the side netting from a tight angle. "Les Bleus" found an equaliser with the last kick before the break as defender Cyril Kopaczewski prodded home during a scrambled corner. Oscar Senovichi bundled a Lassana-Traoré weak header behind the line, and Tamer Modrem put the resultant corner deep into the area, where the Craits were unable to clear, leaving Kopaczewski to wildly swing a foot at the ball in the mêlée and hit the back of the net.
The second half saw Alexandria continue their slight dominance, as Modrem influenced the middle of the park with Jean-Pierre d'Oliviera. Within ten minutes, the Cibolans went ahead, as the impressive Modrem snaked his way past Olivier Dermäna before unleashing a powerful shot across the face of goal, beyond Senovichi and into the bottom-left from the "D". The goal, which came almost out of the blue, seemingly set the rest of the match up for an interesting affair, but there was a void of true excitement for a good twenty minutes following the strike. With Craitish top scorer Freddie Gaärsen coming-on to win his record 101st cap, in the place of Zaya, the injection of further pace terrorised Kopaczewski and Craitland broke through to draw back level. With ten minutes to go of normal time, Gaärsen broke free of the Alexandrians' offside trap and ran through one-on-one after Manta's ingenious curved pass, where his first touch skidded the ball under Foucault's outstretched leg and over the line just inside the right-hand post. The match's final stages were slow, with neither team wanting to expend energy, and Craitland's third consecutive extra time came about.
The Craits were visibly hit by the development, with many of the players having played the entirety of the last three matches' 120 minutes, and there was little emphasis on attacking in comparison with Alexandria. "Les Bleus", on the other hand, had the double substitution of Francis de la Vega and Khalid Mohamed to announce, bringing about a considerable bonus on both wings. Craitland shifted towards a more defensive mentality to ward-off the Alexandrian attacks. The approach covered them well for the majority of the extra thirty, but de la Vega took advantage of Jon Anders Larsen in the final minute and beat the right-back with a step-over before hitting a low effort towards the near post, which caught Senovichi by surprise and sneaked through the gap and into the net with a slight deflection off the stopper's arm. Before extra time could be ended, however, Alexandria found time to add a second and seal the win in the single added minute. Tamer Modrem surged towards goal after gaining the ball from Tim Isrdlvarien after the kick-off, but was fouled by Alexis Proteņ. Álexis Carrasco, who replaced Lassana-Traoré in normal time, stepped-up and hit the free-kick perfectly, bringing the ball up and over the wall, into the right side of the net, with Senovichi short, from over twenty yards out. The Alexandrians' two goals in extra time won them the match, as they finished third, with Craitland undone at the last minute.

MacLeod takes golden ball
Hamland captain Rodney MacLeod has become the first goalkeeper to be voted the FMF World Cup's best player, after being announced as 2013's golden ball winner.
MacLeod's seven clean sheets in the tournament ties last year's record set by Tellian Simone Di Maggio (who conceded in the final's penalty shoot-out win), and his performances in leading Hamland to their first ever World Cup win earned him the award, which puts him in the company of Sébastien Focán and Freddie Gaärsen in the process.
