2015 AEFA qualifying
Re: 2015 AEFA qualifying
"No time for Complacency"
Senya's squad have arrived in Tymaria City ahead of their clash with Nessus, a game which could see the Senyans wrap up qualification for this summer's World Cup in Craitland.
"We've played well so far in the group, and shown our graft" said the national team coach, Ëker Kasëana. "We've been preparing as usual for this tie and we're not leaving anything to chance. It's vital that we don't slip up. We know that Nessus can play some good football, and whilst we may be favourites, anyone who's ever watched football will tell you that as soon as you cross that white line, being favourites counts for nothing".
Captain Barnaby Hands added that the squad weren't thinking about qualification. "Obviously it's in the back of our minds that it is so close. However, we're not there yet and we need to show again [on the 6 May against Nessus] that we deserve to go to Craitland. We want to get the three points and give our fans something to cheer".
Senya will qualify if they do not lose to Nessus, but would also be assured of qualification if Stormark slip up against Stars.
The Green Army are one of a handful teams that could qualify this matchday. Zandarijn require a win and a favour from Mar Sara to seal their place in Craitland, whilst Hamland will qualify if they do not lose against Incontinentia. Shireroth would qualify if they win and Elwynn lose, but as Elwynn face off against the tiny Franklin Islands, Shireroth will most probably have to wait another month before they can secure their spot at the World Cup.

Senya thump Nessus to qualify
Senya ran over an average Nessus side infront of 30,000 in Tymaria City today as the Green Army secured a place in the World Cup for only the second time in their history. Senya started off the brightest, and after just 5 minutes and 28 seconds, Markœ Minyorletsken pounced on a loose ball in the box to give the Green Army the lead. Senya prevented Nessus from playing and were closing down almost instantaneously, and on the 20 minute mark, Barnaby Hands found space 25 yards out, and thumped home a shot into the bottom corner beyond the keeper to all but wrap up qualification. One minute before half-time, Senya made it 3-0 when Gatkan Mena beat 3 players before slotting beyond the keeper at the far post. Senya continued to dominate in the second half, and on 71 minutes made it 4-0 as Alesandrœ Danetskë found space on the edge of the box, and rolled the ball past the keeper from the 18 yard line. Nessus could only master up one shot on goal in the entire game, which occured in the 86th minute, as a cross from the left flank eluded keeper Gonzarlez and landed at the back post for Novi Succxeuses to head home a consolation. Senya however held on, and will be playing at the World Cup in Craitland come summer.
Nessus 1-4 Senya
6' M. Minyorletsken
20' B. Hands
44' G. Mena
71' A. Danetskë
86' N. Succxeuses

Can Senya win the World Cup?
There's still another bout of qualifying fixtures to go. Not that Senya will be involved, their players have played all their games and come two weeks time can spend their evenings relaxing at home, perhaps eyeing up a potential World Cup opponent.
AEFA Group C was settled two weeks ago, although arguably it had been decided long before that. Senya, who were put in what commentators were describing as a "tough group", came out with an unbeaten record, not having conceded a goal at home, and best of all, a team which looks like it can beat anybody. And to think in February nerves were being frayed as Senya were thumped 3-0 by World Champions Mercury.
But if anything, Senya have emerged as one of the, if not the favourites to take the title in Cherry Trees come the summer. Senya responded by beating Mercury 2-1 and claiming the UMFWC, and then seemingly walking over the qualifiers. A 100% record was only denied by a selection of weaker players and heavy Novatainian defending.
Senya may have just arrived on the Micras footballing scene, but they have seemed to time it excellently. Just at a time as Craitland's golden generation are retiring, Mercury's just peaked, and the likes of Hamland, Alexandria, Tellia and Interland are starting to lag, Senya have kicked on. In 2012 when they joined the FMF, people spoke of them, along with Gerenia and Zeeburg, as nations with the most potential. But really, only Senya have shown it. Zeeburg now linger as Nordzibola towards the bottom of the World rankings. Gerenia may have won the Copa Apollonia in 2014, but outside that tournament have shown little signs of hitting it big at this World Cup.
But the thing about Senya is that it has everything a champion needs to have.
The Snakepit, Senya's monster 115,000 stadium is filled to the brim every game, and the Naldas are the only ultras group on Micras for a national team. The 90-minute long jump fest, filled with the odd flag, tifo and flares, make for one of the most intimidating atmospheres in Micrasian football. The team is strong, backed by a competent keeper, 4 strong defenders playing for some of the best teams in Micras, a handful of powerful goalscoring strikers, and possibly the best 5-man midfield Micras has ever seen. Colney, the home of Senya's team, has state of the art equipment.
Although the World Cup could be tight, most Senyans are confident, that come full time in the final, the player lifting the cup will be wearing Green and called Hands.

Bar the Craitish one that won four World CupsSenya wrote:and possibly the best 5-man midfield Micras has ever seen.
I don't know about Gerenia not looking like they'll perform though; one less goal in their loss to Flanders and they'd have finished with the exact same record as Senya. At least, if Senya's qualifying campaign alone puts them as favourites to win the whole thing, Gerenia would probably be the team they'd beat in the final
