Mercury squad forced to stay in Craitland after World Cup failure
Mercury manager John Brookes has told media that the squad will be forced to stay in Craitland for the full duration of the tournament, despite their quarter-final exit to Tellia. Members of the press were stunned into silence as the coach ripped into his own team, who he claimed conceded two cheap goals. "It looks to me like they already had their thoughts turned to being back home with the family, and that's stopped them doing the job that they came here to do. They're not going home until they finish their time in Craitland as the best team in the world. Unfortunately, we can't do that on the main arena, but we can certainly put in the hours on the training pitch."

Stephen Charlton leaves Mercury team camp
Stephen Charlton has left Mercury's team camp after their 3-2 extra time defeat to Tellia. The news comes just a day after manager John Brookes said that the team would remain in Craitland for the rest of the tournament. Charlton is a player for League 1 club Sverige Tiem, and lives in the city, where Mercury spent the tournament, so it is thought that he has gone home.

John Brookes suspended after hotel "fracas"
Controversial Mercury manager John Brookes has been suspended by the Mercury FA for his involvement in a fracas in the team's hotel with "a star player". Over the past few days, since Mercury's exit from the World Cup, tensions have been high in the camp, with Mercury being forced to remain in Craitland until the end of the tournament. Sources close to the team claim that Brookes started fining players for innocuous things like leaving the light on in the hotel and not turning up to breakfast on time.

Passas 3-2 Gerenia
22' - F. Balbîn
34' - Ł. Dąbrowski
45' - Z. Toscano
60' - P. Sherman
83' - P. Sherman
Passas and Gerenia battled-out an exciting encounter for third place, which saw the former take the spoils with a late goal again from the bench.
Having both fallen at the last fence in making it to the final, Passas brought to a close their best World Cup showing in seven years, while Gerenia, after bowing-out at the group stage in their début last summer, were guaranteed on a best ever finish no matter what happened. While some third-place play-offs are often little more than a glorified friendly, with no major prize on offer, these two sides saw the opportunity of claiming more bragging rights with third, and both started in the same offensive vein. Gerenia caused the initial problems, with Passas' Adam Shawnessy needing to be on his toes to deflect an effort from Zorau Pánčaster over the bar in the first few minutes, while Passas themselves witnessed Alex Danelon's skyward effort clear the crossbar from just inside the box. Gerenia went ahead midway through the half as they made an early majority of possession count; with Fabris Balbîn scoring his fourth of the tournament. Zelmar Toscano's one-two with Juvenal Paran made light work of Dannis Pritchard out of position, before Toscano teed-up Balbîn to finish well with a delayed shot after giving Shawnessy a drop of the shoulder. Shawnessy kept his side in the game and helped them equalise around ten minutes later, with a full-length stretching save tipping a Balbîn header behind before the stopper claimed the resulting corner. Shawnessy's subsequent launched clearance fed a lone Łukasz Dąbrowski downfield, and the forward's magnetic control and pace saw him beat Jan Korau and then finish past Režan Arkuse one-on-one without any help required. Despite working their way back to draw level, Passas again went behind, this time just before the break. Paran was involved once more, with a powerful run forward creating space, before his ball into the centre of the pitch was met by Toscano on his way forward. Toscano controlled well with an outstretched boot, intercepting an expectant Sa Pazi in the process, before taking the ball in his stride and shooting from a couple of yards outside the area. The left-footed shot swerved its way through the air and into the left side of the net, with Shawnessy unable to reach it, to put "The Marauders" back into the lead at the end of the half.
Passas brought on a familiar face at the break, with Phillip Sherman replacing Alex Danelon, who has seemingly had trouble translating his domestic prowess into international form this summer. Sherman's impact was almost immediate, with some good link-up play feeding Dąbrowski into the box, but Arkuse was equal to the resulting shot and kept the Passasian striker from going joint-top of the scoring charts for the tournament. Gerenia maintained their attacking threat, and Karl Brükner gave Shawnessy something to think about after ten minutes of the half with an attempt which rebounded off the side-netting from a fierce snap-shot. Passas equalised for a second time on the turn of the hour, thanks to an unusual goal which was officially credited to Sherman. A wing-based attack from Danijel Đorđević forced a corner from a Korau deflection, and Đorđević delivered it himself. The deep cross was headed by Sa Pazi at the back post, whose goal-ward header hit Dąbrowski by the opposite upright. Dąbrowski reacted quickly to shoot, but the ball ricocheted off the base of the post a matter of feet away and skidded back across the goal line as Arkuse could only watch. While the ball looked like it may have gone in, Sherman made sure it did, and blasted it into the net; the substitute was credited with levelling, although Dąbrowski may argue with him for some time about stealing his finish. Passas began to grow more as the game played-out, and the tied scoreline favoured their more experience attack the longer it remained. Gerenia were not without options, however, as Igar Kosko entered the fray for Balbîn, but Shawnessy continued to evidence why he has been earmarked for the golden glove this summer; pulling-off two acrobatic stops from shots to the top corners. With the match entering its twilight, Passas found a way to eventually go in front. Pazi clumsily meandered his way forward, bypassing Frank Rusov, and delivered an in-perfect cross which pitched its way between two defenders to fall directly to Sherman for a side-foot into the bottom-left corner, using the ball's momentum to take it beyond Arkuse's glove. Cruelly, Sherman was denied a hat-trick in the last minute after being flagged offside following a ball forward from Đorđević, with his first-time lob bound for the goal as the whistle blew. While Gerenia's tournament ended on a sour note after such an exciting run of success, a first World Cup semi keeps a rapidly-developing team on the right track, as they set their sights on retaining their Copa Apollonia title next year. Passas, after an EMU final appearance last summer, can use this third place to prove to their doubters that they are now a force to be reckoned with again, having only lost once this whole tournament. While the new FMF schedule may affect these two sides' chances the next time a World Cup rolls around, you can be sure they will both be aiming high in their respective confederational championships in 2016.

2015 FMF World Cup Final: Hamland vs. Tellia
After twenty teams played 51 games, scored 128 goals, endured three extra times, nerved two penalty shoot-outs and kept one hat-trick ball, it was time for the big one. The only guarantee before the tenth ever FMF World Cup final was that at the end of it, no matter what, we would see a nation be crowned champions of Micras for a second time. Having won in 2012 via penalties, and lost the very first final under the guise of Gaia, this was Tellia's third final appearance. Hamland, winners in 2013, were lining-up in their fourth final - a joint-record with Craitland - but also set a record of their own this time, as they became the first team to reach three successive finals. And that's without mentioning their sixth consecutive semi-final showing that set a new record in the last round too.
While maybe not everyone's picks to get to the final, whether pre-tournament or based on earlier showings in Craitland this summer, these two are unmistakable giants of Micrasian football and both deserving of their shot at doubling their World Cup wins. With the players available to star in a show-piece match with the whole of Micras watching, everyone was expecting a sensational end to a fantastic tournament.
So, with all that's been said, it's time to find-out who will come-out the victor, as the players wait in the tunnel ready for one of the biggest moments of their careers...
Watch the final here!Spoiler!
