As it was said previously. 'A society has members, not customers.'
So, each member is part of the society, and everyone should do their bit toward the running of the society. This also means the Council (no names mentioned) should be a bit less 'nose-in-the-air' when it comes to it's members. After all, where would the Council be without members.

I support this. It's too hard to taunt the GSO for plotting behind their members' backs when we have a similarly locked forum. I understand that in the interests of fairness some council members might want to keep their votes private, and I think they're right to want to do so, but it just creates too much of an atmosphere of suspicion.
Suggestion - have an open forum here, and then secretly start another invisible forum somewhere else if you have to have any REALLY sensitive discussions. That way everyone's happy.

Didn't Pete claim in secret, then gave up and put it outside (for that whole two pixel island, wooh, big claim there ...)?
We're happy for you to vote in secret, but do you need to discuss in secret if we can't actually post in the discussion area?

Can I just add that perhaps it's worth considering the possible distortion effect that opening the council's discussions and/or votes would have on those discussions and/or votes. That is, perhaps it would have a negative effect on the Council's impartiality if its members were more concerned with the external reaction and effects of their votes/posts than the merit of the claim in question?
Just a thought for people to digest, and it's not to say that I don't support an open council.

Hmm ... that is something. But considering other comments, some council members don't seem to mind what the claimees think ...
Of course, if you also went with the suggestion of archiving them immediately when processed, and did claims in under a week, wouldn't have as much effect ...
