On the current Alexandrian claim.

On the current Alexandrian claim.
Not a complaint, per se. But I hope that this reply, which is very indicative of a MCS Council member with his Calbion hat on, is grounds for recusal from the matter.
Although I should admit in public that it was my fault for not being polite and notifying Jack previously. Given that we had done some work and planning previously (and will have more storylines for activity in Alexandria based on this claim very soon) and we were nervous that our planning and work would go to waste. Given that Jack and I have had not a very friendly past to begin with, I did not foresee a notification being received well either way anyway. If my assumption was wrong, then I apologize. But I do hope that the integrity of the MCS is not compromised on this, given that it was because of this exactly that Alexandria and other nations opposed the induction of Rasmus and Jack to the MCS together. Things shook out how they did in the end, and we accepted it. But this is rather concerning, and I hope the Council will act accordingly to be impartial.
Alexandria is consistently active, and building activity and culture upon this new claim. If there are any legitimate questions or concerns, we stand ready to answer them accordingly.
With humility,

Re: On the current Alexandrian claim.
It is not uncommon for Council members to air opinions to claims based on any citizenships they hold, and I myself have previously even abstained on claims if I felt that my decision would be affected in the slightest by national affiliation.
I should hope that such comments from a (currently) non-voting Council member would not be taken as representative of the Council as a whole as well, and that the MCS's integrity and impartiality aren't questioned considering that the votes of others are the key factor in the claims process as opposed to sidebars.
Any concerns and queries will, as ever, be asked directly to the claimant nation as required

Re: On the current Alexandrian claim.
Of course, totally understandable. I never intended for this to be a generalization of the Council, rather a call for the Council to act to ensure that there was a recusal (which has not happened yet), as the Charter requires, since the Alexandrian claim would impact Calbion. Also, with the departure of Rasmus from the Council, Jack is a full-fledged voting member now, which changes circumstances more to our concern.Craitman wrote:It is not uncommon for Council members to air opinions to claims based on any citizenships they hold, and I myself have previously even abstained on claims if I felt that my decision would be affected in the slightest by national affiliation.

I do not intend for this to be a generalization, just a remark, but I really hope to see a day where us Alexandrians won't have to feel like there's an amount of walking around eggshells to do when it comes to MCS affairs sometimes.

Re: On the current Alexandrian claim.
In terms of a recusal, abstaining on claim voting is the decision of the individual Council members. Automatic ineligibility to vote is based on citizenships held in claimant nations, so there is no requirement for the MCS to refuse Jack's vote (now that he's no longer a Junior) as he is not Alexandrian. If he wishes to abstain, that is completely his choice as it is any other Council member's.
Honestly, I'm confused to hear this. Perhaps you feel differently, and I would genuinely like to understand why if you do, but the MCS has never treated Alexandria any differently to any other nation in regards to claims or claim maintenance, and it saddens me that there's even the tiniest amount of apprehension in approaching the MCS from an Alexandrian perspective...Edgard wrote:I do not intend for this to be a generalization, just a remark, but I really hope to see a day where us Alexandrians won't have to feel like there's an amount of walking around eggshells to do when it comes to MCS affairs sometimes.
