The goals in question were scored in the 2008 and 2011 FMF World Cups, and had been officially recorded as own goals for Hamland's Ronald Brown and Nova England's Filipe Da Costa, respectively. However, administrative oversight meant that both goals had been accredited to Gaärsen on the CrFA website and subsequently published on a number of other sources. The FMF's investigation began after mismatching data was brought to their attention, and its outcome now leaves Gaärsen on a total of 103 goals - still a Micrasian record - from his 162 appearances.
