Restoring the MAS
I'm rather disappointed to have missed out on the major bit of activity here, so it seems obvious that I try to revive the Astronomy Society. I don't intend to come in here and mess with any information that was decided before Mercury even existed. It's very important that we do keep all of that, as it forms part of the culture of some of the older nations. What I want to do is collect the data we already have, and get all the articles onto the wiki.
To the people who were part of the MAS before, I'm not going to kick you out of whatever jobs you had before, this is a thing for everyone to participate in, and I rather hope they do

Re: Restoring the MAS
That sounds excellent! Unfortunately I can't really take up any positions - my positions in Ashkenatza, the silver yak horde and port side industries don't really leave much room for maneuver on my part. It would be great to get this up and coming though - space exploration in the Micran universe is something that greatly interests me.

Not a bad idea... count me in... after february is over, I will have a lot more time to spend on this!

Count me in. Perhaps I could retcon Safiria into the Atos system? :3

Re: Restoring the MAS
No new planets, please, it would be like adding Nibiru to the International Astronomical Union's lists.
I'd be happy to spend some time working on descripting the space around us - Interland is a country which always had interest (and business) in space exploration. Interlandian Probes have already taken pictures of our two closest neighbour planets: Eos and Pyros (link: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=988&p=20583 ) and analysed their chemical composition. We've also (unofficially) developed a gate to Polish Microworld's planetary system.
PS. I've also seen Batavian images of the planets: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=3588&p=48240

Re: Restoring the MAS
Nice stuff! Are those probes still active, or just dead in orbit of those planets?
Also, do you know if those planets are terrestrial, and if so, what the PSI, PH, radiation and heat would be under those clouds? A lander probe would be nice to return some soil samples, but without more info it could go the way of the venera series on venus...

Mercury want to send up a probe to try and discover some more moons and find out about the ones we already know

Re: Restoring the MAS
They're still computing their current position so that a more accurate model of the orbit, the planets' mass and density can be estimated. Maybe I'll manage to post the official report about the missions in English later.

Re: Restoring the MAS
Should we start to get together an MAS Council then, or will we just have general consensus on things?
Re: Restoring the MAS
I never really quit being on the staff here, it's more that interest in the project severely waned. I'm all for getting this going again.
I would prefer to keep things limited to the two lists Pawel pointed out, try and bring those together, and then start standardizing data.
I designed Glinos/Momiji myself as a sister world to Micras back when the map had filled up almost entirely and we were discussing the idea of colonizing a second world. It became canon when we started standardizing things, and its the only world to have been mapped out like Micras. I still have the map kicking around somewhere and will try to find it.

Re: Restoring the MAS
I definitely don't want to go around changing things that were created before we were even here. I just hope to collect all the possible info into one place, and if necessary, create new information that was previously unknown.

Re: Restoring the MAS
I would be opposing changes to canon, too. But we need to think about the position of Glinos in the system, because eighth planet being inhabitable without a heat source nearby is quite disturbing.

Re: Restoring the MAS
Glinos was ridiculously reflective in the pictures, although that wouldn't provide enough heat for it to be inhabitable. I've never considered it to be inhabitable, in fact I only ever thought Micras and Indigo were thought to be inhabitable.
Re: Restoring the MAS
Colonising a second world would be absolutely awesome and could kick this sector back into a bit more activity - provided we don't have to go too far out in terms of technology to colonise it (you know what I mean - use stuff that is theoretical or near future at the moment rather than just go all star trek or whatever).

Re: Restoring the MAS
If we can't even fill all the land on Micras, then I don't see how colonising a second planet would increase activity. All it would do is give the powerful nations yet more land.
