2008 FMF World Cup Amokolia - Official Thread
Re: 2008 FMF World Cup Amokolia - Official Thread
Although Craitland sent us home, I'd like them to win the World Cup (since we have good ties with them, football-speaking)

And it's always good to say you got beaten by the eventual winners (apparently)
Re: 2008 FMF World Cup Amokolia - Official Thread
Passas v Cräiteland
Parisia Field - Stadium
In a massive stadium of the Parisia Field, the floodlights well and truly lit, we have finally made it to the World Cup final. Cräiteland have won it once and are set to go and hunt for their second one - as well as trying to be the first team to win back-to-back World Cups as well as breaking the record of most World Cup wins.
Last year, Passas narrowly missed out of the final, however this year was a different case. After being drawn with Interland, Stormark and Amokolia, the going looked easy, getting the upperhand by finishing top on goal difference after surviving a 3-3 battle with the hosts Amokolia right at the end. Surviving the 2nd place scare, they met New South Vietnam in the Quarters, which they breezed past before sinking Alexandria right at the end 6-4 with two late goals from Lukasz Dabrowski and Nick Verkslamp to take them here.
The Craitish on the other side had a shaky start to the World Cup, struggling to beat Hurmu which ended in a draw, however they made a recovery - coming back to beat Shireroth and United Empire to see them go off to the quarter-finals. In the last 8 they faced Hamland, who they comfortably beat 3-0, being the most impressive team going into the semi-finals, where they faced Bobalania. They made it seem easy at the start, and yet with 10 men down in the second half they survived a late battle from Bobalania, resulting in a 4-2 victory.
Cräiteland will undoubtedly be dependant on wing play with Markko Edmildón and captain Manta Pellegrino, who will be wanting to lift the cup once more. Nevertheless their two frontmen will be vitally important, the composure of Hanast Pellegrino and speed of Freddie Gaärsen will be needed. However one man that won't feature today is Jon Anders Larsen, after horrifically sliding out LuÃs Liotta from behind with two feet in the previous round, deserving him with a straight red card and a 3 international match ban. In comes, replacing him, Phil Demb.
Passas have some threat too, Nick Verkslamp somehow acts as their 3rd striker with the way he's going with goals at the moment, however Lukasz Dabrowski will be vitally important. After already facing a U21 World Cup heartache in the final against the Craitish U21's, he will hope that the same thing won't repeat in the senior World Cup. Eddie van Heart will also have another tricky task as he remains in the anchor role supporting the defence and playing as the holding midfielder.
However Cräiteland will obviously feel that wearing their away strip will be a slight disadvantage, after finding form in their white shirts. Passas will be in the White and Red hoops as we are set for a final showdown.
Teams
Passas (4-1-2-1-2): M East (GK), H Racckam, I King, O Hurtado, S Bonny, E van Heart, J Custis, J Nirimorf, N Verkslamp (capt), P Sherman, L Dabrowski
Cräiteland (3-5-2): J Vorgensen (GK), P Demb, Y Hjansen, J Hjansen, Manta P (capt), H Herä, Y Senovichi, T Vorgensen, M Edmildón, Hanast P, F Gaärsen

I can see a high scoring game, with the way these offenses have gone.

I dunno, our defence has been pretty solid since the opening gameMatthewDavis wrote:I can see a high scoring game, with the way these offenses have gone.
EDIT: Just watched the final. Result really doesn't reflect the game, it was a hell of a lot closer than that...

*Jess enters, makes closing speech*
As commissioner of the Amokolian Football League, as founder of Amokolia, and as a dear friend of everyone in the audience, I warmly thank the FMF for letting The Royal Amokolian Republic, now the Kingdom of Amokolia, host this wonderful World Cup, and a historic one too. We have seen many mighty teams fall, and many small teams rise, and for the first time in Micronational History, a team has won the FMF World Cup two years in succession, Cratëland has overcome the near impossible to do this. And our own home team, Amokolia (everyone yells) made it into the Quarter-Finals, which was a lot more than what I had expected. We would also like to congratulate all teams that made it here, even that is an accomplishment in itself! Amokolia has had a re-birth with these competitions, we used to be a small under developed country, which was only a few little pixels here and there, now we are conquering Benacia. Our Football League has become excellent because of this. We have more teams than ever, even one from the largest country has decided to join our league instead. And, as promised, I will give out the following awards:
Champions: Craitland
*Hands trophy to Craitman*
You guys can have another one, just remember that this one comes from the one and only Amokolia!
Second Place: Passas
*Hands Trophy to Matt*
Just think, you could have been a lot lot worse!
Third Place: Bobalania
*Hands Trophy to Bobby*
I know we haven't ever spoken with one another, but remember, I think Bobalania is pretty neat myself.
Biggest Fuck Up: Ole Kraft
*Hands Ole a picture of a retard*
You deserve it, Flicke. But we all appreciate you and look forward to seeing you play for MY Lengish-Danish Freeze next season!
Most Dissapointing Team: Amokolia
*Gives Himself a slap*
You guys had home field advantage...XD
Lets also all give the AFL Champions, the New London Islanders a round of applause, for winning the Automatican Cup this spring. And so, finally, as bretheren and friends of all of Micras, I personally than you all for comming to the World Cup, and later in life, I want everyone to think of this night, the energy that was here, in Amokolia, the centre of attention of all of Micras for two months, Thank you, and God Bless you all! I look forward to being in Alexandria for next years world cup!
*Hands Microphone to Hieu for presidential speech*

Do you want me to edit that n00bery, or just delete it?
*Cräiteland
The trophy's given to the country captain at the end of the match, and it's the same trophy each time, not just a special one from the host nation.
Runners-up and third placers only get medals.
Amokolia weren't disappointing in the slightest
And if anyone would give a presidential speech it would be the FMF President... Me
