Zealandian cities
Just a request that the city names in Zealandia get changed to yellow as the red isn't very visible.

Re: Zealandian cities
I suppose I could
I've noticed there's a lot of variety in monitor displays regarding colours, and a few different nations on the map have colours which look very similar on some monitors as well

Maybe you could put some colours in the key at the bottom that are available to use for new claims, so you don't accidentally use one that's too similar?
Re: Zealandian cities
Most of the good colors were eaten up a long time ago though.

There should be a pallet of colours to choose from, each distinguishable from one another.

Re: Zealandian cities
Or you could just put the different country names on the map itself. That way, the color doesn't matter much.

Obviously have colours on the map to make nations more distinguishable, but use maybe 6 or 7, like on normal world maps?

Re: Zealandian cities
The argument against names so far has been complexity (people struggle with even city names) and extra confusion. Maybe it's time to have a whole re-look at the colours we're using, see how many there are actually left, and then consider alternatives to unique colours.

Re: Zealandian cities
I think this is possibly the first time in about three years where we've had so many nations on the map with more and more joining, and I've not known a time before where we've been close to running-out of noticeably different colours! I mean, the idea of becoming more like world maps with only a handful of colours and more labels is quite attractive, but realistically (and with no offence intended to any nations) it's quite likely the number of nations on the map will reduce quite a bit on the run-up to Christmas after the school year begins again and what-not. If a decent colour system using limited colours can be found and agreed upon by the majority of MCS members, then that's fine and it'll be changed, but for now I say we stick with the current system as there's still a few major colours unused for now (bright pink's not taken yet )

Re: Zealandian cities
Well we still have about 6 weeks before people go back to school, so that number will increase before then. If we are using different colours for each nations, we only need enough colours so that one nation doesn't border another marked with the same colour, which would be maybe 6.
Re: Zealandian cities
Or, if you want to continue with unique colors, you can always add patterns. Red with black strikes, alternating stripes or parti-colored claims etc.

Re: Zealandian cities
I wouldn't like that really, and they would be similar to the markings for dependencies and disputed regions etc.
Re: Zealandian cities
Fair enough, that is where I got the idea.

Re: Zealandian cities
The problem with putting the name of each nation over each bit of their territory is that it adds yet more text onto the map - and presumably the nation text would be bigger than city text size, which would have to cover the land itselfs, getting in the way of potential city names and regional boundaries etc.
Therefore I think changing colours is the best option. Hamland and Ashkenatza are virtually indistinguisable.
