Re: 2013 Rugby League World Cup finals
*played yesterday*
Craitland were looking to reach their second successive final as they took on Hamland, who fell at the semi-final hurdle last time around. Craitland defeated Hamland 19-12 in the Group Stage last year, so it seemed as though this would be another close encounter. Hamland opened the scoring 22 minutes in, with Daniel Imhoff's kick being well chased by Nathan Bosch. Craitland levelled with Jon Pellegrino's try, and Yaqin Ula gave them the lead 5 minutes from half time. Robert Dunnes' try early in the second half put Hamland back into the lead, but Craitland levelled the score with a penalty goal on the hour mark. With the score all tied up, the game needed a flash of inspiration from any of the 26 men on the field, and with just 4 minutes to go, Ernest Miller managed to break through the Craitish defence to put Hamland 16-12 up. Daniel Imhoff slotted over the simple conversion, to make it a 6-point lead, forcing Craitland to take the short option at the kick-off. The ball found its way to Jón Klevets, but as he was bundled into touch, Hamland had just one final possession to see out the game and book their place in the final.

Since we are almost out of the Football WC, it's nice to reach a final in here!

Mercury's reward for finishing top of their group was a semi-final tie against North Antarctica. The two sides had not met in a competitive fixture before, so this was sure to be an interesting game. Mercury led just three minutes in as Neil Winter went over. North Antarctica levelled the scores a quarter of an hour in, with Ryan Rodriguez darting in underneath the posts. Some sloppy defending allowed Mercury to retake the lead 12 minutes later, but Robert Cooper missed the conversion, leaving North Antarctica just 4 points behind. A second try for Daniel Brown made Mercury's lead more comfortable going into half time, but the Napians had shown they were not about to roll over for the tournament favourites. North Antarctica closed the gap to six points, as they claimed the first points of the second half, but a converted try from Luke Hamilton made the Napians' uphill task even harder. Peter Milios gave his side hope, but Michael Donelly's drop goal put the game to bed.

Re: 2013 Rugby League World Cup finals
Congratulations to Hamland on a very entertaining final, and very unfortunate to lose out right at the death. I'm sure you'll put in another fantastic showing next year

Well done, Mercury! Let's be honest, that title's a year overdue
